I showed up at a middle school today to do a demo and there were a bunch of people at the door staring at me. After a few moments one of the ladies opened the door and asked what I wanted. I told her I was there to do a show and she quickly escorted me into the office. It turns out some guy had showed up at the local High School with a gun and then got away. The school was on lockdown until they determined where he went and arrested him. It certainly made for an interesting start for that show. Of course tonight is supposed to get 3-6 inches of snow so that will make for a fun evening and morning tomorrow. I’m sick of schools being canceled due to weather so hopefully everything will go along fine.
In other news, I made one of the biggest goof-ups of my career yesterday…I showed up almost an hour late for a show! This wasn’t due to traffic or weather, I just flat out was late. I had the time down wrong for the show and when I showed up they had already canceled me and were just having the students play ball in the gym. I felt terrible, that was honestly the first time I was late for a show in my life where it was totally my fault. There are few things I detest so much as being late and there I was…doing what I hated most. Hopefully we’ll be able to reschedule for later in the year.
