I’ve got one day left before the fall tour is officially over. Of course it wouldn’t be a memorable ending without excessive amounts of driving. We started in San Diego on Sunday, Phoenix on Monday, Joseph City on Tuesday, Vernon on Wednesday and we’ll finish out the week with 2 shows in Colorado. Quite a bit of driving to finish things off, but we’re enjoying it. As soon as we finish up the last school tomorrow afternoon, we have to hot tail it to Albequerque so I can catch a flight up to Alaska for Christmas. Alicia will then drive to Dallas so she canRead More →

Today I had the pleasure of driving through Death Valley, what a beautiful natural wonder! Thankfully since it is December it wasn’t 115 degrees and was actually quite pleasant. Driving along the main valley has you situated at about sea level or below so that was interesting. If you haven’t seen it, you should go.Yesterday was the final day in the valley for this tour. It was quite enjoyable as I jumped for almost 1,000 students between both schools. I then drove out to Lone Pine for a show this afternoon. The students were quite energetic and really gave me the energy boost I neededRead More →

I don’t even know where to begin. So much has happened since I left Oklahoma it’s hard to remember. First off, we drove straight through from Oklahoma to California (about 30 hours in all). After arriving we stayed with my cousin to recuperate before starting the tour schedule up again that Monday. We spent the whole week driving around from Sacramento to the mountains north of Napa Valley, to the mountains just west of Yosemite. It was a crazy week with plenty of crazy happenings.I have to say that driving can be a bit boring, but the mountains in California leave no room for napping.Read More →

Due to a miscommunication I actually got to go home for the past couple of days. Well, home is relative as my house is rented out and I technically don’t have a home at the moment, but I am staying near my house. Anyway, I went by today to check on some stuff and I found my annual ‘we love you’ present from Alaska Airlines. Every year I get a box of cookies because I’m at the top of their frequent flier program. It’s always a funny thing to tell people, I fly enough that they want me to be happy. It’s good stuff. On aRead More →

The past 2 weeks I’ve been performing in the Dallas, TX area and boy has it been fun. Most of the time when I do a program it’s a full school assembly where the school has paid to bring me in. Dallas has been a bit different, I’ve been working with a fundraising agency that helps schools raise money. As a reward for selling a certain amount of products, the agency has brought me into a school to perform for students that reach a certain sales amount. I know it sounds a bit confusing, but basically what happens is this: if a student sells 12Read More →

A little over a week ago I took part in the annual Bouncing Bulldogs workshop. Alicia and I flew out to North Carolina to meet up with some of the best jumpers from around the country and show people what jump rope is all about. It was a long weekend, though oddly enough, for me it was rather less strenuous than normal. I only had 2-3 things in the show that lasted a total of maybe 1 minute of jumping, which is significantly less than my normal 30-45 per show. This was the first time Alicia had been to a workshop so it was aRead More →

It’s been quite some time since I felt 100%. I’ve had a cold and mild flu for the past couple weeks and just haven’t had the time to recuperate. My last day off was Oct. 21st and I’ve been going non-stop since then. Performing when you don’t feel well is always a challenge, especially when you have to do it by yourself. Every morning I have to get up and act excited as I perform 2-3 times for 45 minutes at a whack, it’s tough, but that’s all part of the job. How many careers are there where you just can’t take a sick day,Read More →

After a seemingly endless weekend of driving, I finally made it to Texas. Last week was a lot of fun, we had shows all around central California and I was even able to take a short afternoon jaunt into San Francisco. I then met up with an old jump rope friend in Santa Clara, Robyn, then my wife and I headed to Salinas and Carmel. We had some trailer trouble that took a couple of hours to fix before we started the long haul from California to Texas. That’s right, half way across the country and only 2 days to do it in. We finallyRead More →

Whenever you are with family, strange things can happen. Last night I met up with my Aunt and Uncle just outside of Sacramento, CA. After eating dinner they informed my wife and I that they were going to a Breast Cancer walk the following morning. Since we had just visited my 92 year old grandmother who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, we thought we would join them. They outfitted us with t-shirts emblazoned with the wording ‘save the ta tas’. We were under the impression that this was the official shirt everyone would be wearing at the event. All decked out in our shirtsRead More →

This has been a really good weekend for me. I’m staying with my good friend, Trent Cunningham. He was my partner in crime all through school as we traveled the world jumping rope. He still does some jump rope stuff so I’ve talked him into filming a few episodes of the videoKast with me so you’ll get to learn some stuff from him in the near future. He actually stole one of my nicknames a while back, the Jump Rope Guy, and named his business after it. All I can say is that I was using it first and he stole it, though I’m notRead More →
